Description
The Joop winter cycling shorts were designed and developed with one goal in mind: to allow you to ride in cold weather in complete comfort. As you know, riding in autumn or winter, when temperatures drop below 10 or 15°C, requires a certain amount of motivation. So you might as well do it in the best possible conditions!
The fabric used, the Superroubaix, is made in Italy. Lined with a thin layer of fleece, it provides warmth and breathability. It is also four-way stretch to fit everyone's body shape perfectly.
The construction of the shorts has been carefully designed and the seams are flatlock to prevent friction. They have been carefully positioned to maintain the mobility needed for pedalling. After all, isn't a high-performance winter cycling shorts one that you don't even notice you're wearing?
A special fabric insert has been placed at the saddle to resist abrasion in this crucial area. As for the pad, we have selected the chamois leather that provides the best comfort. Manufactured, once again, in Italy and offering a triple-density design, it will accompany you during your efforts by absorbing as many bumps in the road as possible. It is the same pad used in our Émile cycling shorts, which our customers particularly appreciate.
The insert at the bottom of the back has been lengthened to retain body heat. At the top of the back, perforated, laser-cut mesh wicks moisture away from the body.
Finally, a reflective panel has been added to the bottom of the leg for added visibility in low light conditions.
The Mercier logos on the lower back and rear leg are embroidered. No more logos that crack and fade in the wash: Joop has been developed to last.
The name of these winter tights pays tribute to Dutch cyclist Joop Zoetemelk, who raced for several years in the Mercier professional team:
- 1974-1976: Gan-Mercier-Hutchinson
- 1977-1978: Miko-Mercier-Hutchinson
- 1979: Miko-Mercier-Vivagel
- 1982-1983: Coop-Mercier-Mavic
Riding at a professional level from 1970 to 1987 - an exceptional longevity for the time - Joop's list of achievements has become legendary in cycling, notably including a victory in the Tour de France in 1980.
